Speedster

The Speedster is Kees van der Westen's single-group espresso machine, made in the Netherlands for those who want the precision of a café machine at the scale of one group. Its dual-boiler system feeds an oversized coffee boiler with water pre-heated in the steam boiler, which keeps the brewing temperature stable from the first shot to the last; boiler pressure is set on the display and held by PID control. A pre-infusion chamber wets the coffee at low pressure before full extraction and can be adjusted by the barista, and a mixed hot-water outlet delivers water at a lower temperature for tea and americanos. Choose the standard group, or the Idro-matic group, which adds adjustable progressive pre-infusion for an even saturation of the coffee and fewer channels. 220–240 V, 2,200–3,100 W, 3.5-litre steam boiler.
